Do you pause and realise how time is flying by?
I sure do…often!
That realisation draws me to a passion for knowing what I am doing with my “precious time” which is not refundable. Do we actually “GET THAT” Time is not refundable. Last year, last month, last week, yesterday and hour ago a minute ago…done and dusted, not to be seen again. You however are here in a new moment.
How present are you with the now moment? How present are you with yourself, your body, your mind, your soul, your family, your choices, your actions? I encourage you to take 5, or 15 minutes if you are willing to give yourself this opportunity. Scan through these key areas I have just mentioned and be honest with yourself, go on… be brave, do it for YOU.
Write down in your journal (I trust you have one) your answers to those few question regarding those handful of key areas in your life, and then gently assess, and acknowledge where you currently are with “Your Time” and focus. It is a revelation, and guess what…it is filled with OPPORTUNITY to make a change NOW! The mere moment that you chose to give yourself this time to reflect on something so important and key to your peace of mind is progress in itself. Well done…
Now what did you find out? That you waste pretty much 80% of your time being unconscious, on autopilot, and oblivious of how you actually spend your time. You are not alone! Breathe… If you are willing to acknowledge this truth and agree with yourself that you want to change this YOU CAN!
Here are a few key actions to take now…
- Get a journal
- Have a diary (even if it is on your smart phone, reminders for example)
- Always have a great book beside your bed that inspires you.
- Rise with the sun.
- Go to your quiet space, sit, close your eyes and follow your breath in and out for 5 minutes (expand this to 15 minutes gradually)
- Open your eyes and write down what came up for you in your journal, things you want to do today write into your diary.
- Go outdoors if possible, take a walk or run, do some mild to moderate movement with your body.
- Shower or bath (do this attentively, create a pleasant and soothing environment) rehearse in your mind – your day!
- Dress for success.
- Look yourself in the mirror and talk yourself through your day with enthusiasm and commit to hold all your agreements and complete you important tasks.
When you get home that evening, check in with yourself, how did you do with your day?…This is important, it will establish accountability between you and you! Acknowledge “everything” no excuses, and repeat your daily routine with courage…you WILL start to establish habits that show your respect for TIME!
Now you may feel this list is basic and so simple..and it is, however are we doing it? Are you doing it DAILY to create good strong habits to support your success, and success is not all about money, however money is a result of doing daily the things that build momentum and ultimately your success, be it at work, at home, in relationship, in business, community etc.
Part of this daily routine that fuels your ability to focus is what you consume. That is why the morning routine, that keeps you focused on you and creating the inner connection and flow that will support HOW you be with your time through out your day.
Now if you woke and went on your smart phone, to check face book, or instagram, and then just wandered to the kitchen and drank coffee, still looking at your phone, checking emails, and WhatsApp…how different does that routine feel to the earlier one?
